ปม (knot)

In ปม (knot), two Thai Buddhist prayer candles are melted together to lock a steel collar around my neck. Lit at both ends, the candles take a duration of 25 minutes to burn. Once the candles are lit, I dance. As the candles burn toward the center of my throat, where they lock the metal in place, hot wax drips onto my skin. Eventually, I am forced to lie down in stillness so as to not be burned by the flame. Once the candles burn completely, I am freed from the collar.
